How to cut a watermelon

There’s a long-running debate among all fruit connoisseurs: what’s the most refreshing fruit on the planet? Some experts may say it’s the tropical guava. Other’s might argue it’s the Indian Rose Apple. And while these rare, exotic fruits certainly rank high on our list, we contend that the most refreshing fruit in the world is also one of the most common: the watermelon. It’s packed with tons of taste, juice, and only takes a few minutes to prepare. If those aren’t the qualities of a world-class summer fruit, then we don’t know what are.

As we embark on the summer months ahead, it might be nice to know how to prepare this top-tier fruit with a top-tier cutting style. So, without further ado, here are the 5 simple steps to cutting the perfect watermelon:

What you’ll need:

  • A large knife
  • A watermelon

The steps:

  1. Cut the entire watermelon in half length-wise.
  2. Take one half and place it face down on the table.
  3. Make 5-6 cuts across the watermelon horizontally.
  4. Reposition the watermelon and make 5-6 cuts vertically.
  5. Repeat this process for the other half of the watermelon.
