“One of my favorite weight loss healthy smoothie recipes uses coconut water as a base.

“When getting the ingredients for the smoothie it’s vital to look at the ingredients and make sure none of them have added sugar.

“First pour the coconut water into a blender, followed by frozen strawberries, raw kale, raw spinach, a banana, and strawberry (or fruit-flavored) protein powder. Blend until the fruit is a drinkable consistency and enjoy. The color may be off-putting at first, however, you will be surprised by the great taste.

“The spinach and kale add so many important amino acids and nutrients to the smoothie without affecting the taste. There is no need for any sweeteners since the strawberries and banana are sufficient in natural sugars to make the smoothie very tasty. This is a fantastic meal replacement, can help aid in weight loss, and maintain a holistic healthy lifestyle.”

“This peaches and cream oatmeal smoothie is one of my favorite breakfast smoothie recipes.

“It’s full of protein, and contains oatmeal, which will help keep you satisfied longer.

  • 1 cup of frozen or fresh peach slices
  • 1 cup of unsweetened Greek yogurt
  • ¼ cup of oatmeal
  • ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup almond milk”

“When it comes to weight loss and to smoothies one thing is common between both; added sugar. Added sugar can quickly sneak into many food items, even those deemed healthy, and begin to wreak havoc on your health and goals.

“When it comes to smoothies this is especially true as sugar-laden yogurts and powders are added to the recipe to provide flavor and bulk.

“To avoid unnecessary sugar and potential Candida overgrowth I like to recommend the Very Coconut Smoothie or the Cool Almond Smoothie. These two options will satisfy the person that prefers sweet and those that prefer savory without added refined sugars or carbohydrates that only slow down metabolism and weight loss.”

  • 3/4 cup frozen pitted cherries

“Focus on metabolism boosting and fat burning. The key to weight loss smoothies is replacing a meal with them instead. Focus on healthy fats, complex carbs, and proteins. And if you want to add some chocolate goodness, go for dark chocolate instead. It’ll add in polythenols which burn fat.”

“I have two recipes to share because they are both great, and a little different.

“Morning Cup O’ Pro

  • 1 scoop vanilla or chocolate protein powder
  • ½ cup whole milk
  • ¼ – ½ cup brewed coffee
  • 1 tsp cocoa powder (optional)
  • 3-5 ice cubes

“Pour the coffee into a cup and let it sit for a bit to cool. Unless you want a warm protein smoothie. To each his own. You may not have to add any water to this one depending on the consistency and your personal preference.

“Proatmeal Cookie

  • 1 scoop vanilla
  • ¼ cup rolled oats
  • ½ banana
  • 1 cup almond milk
  • ¼ tsp cinnamon
  • Water
  • 1 Tbsp choc chips or 1-2 tsp cocoa powder (optional)

“To me, this tastes like (or somewhat resembles) an oatmeal cookie. A chocolate chip oatmeal cookie, not that oatmeal raisin nonsense. ¼ cup of oats = 4 Tbsp oats. You can adjust accordingly.”

“In my opinion, it has to be the green smoothie as originally promoted via the British celebrity Katie Price.

“I watched her keep fit video and it included this cute green smoothie and it was the first time I had used one to shed the pounds. I fell in love with it and then modified it for own needs and have used it many times to shed unwanted weight.

“You can simply replace 2 meals a day with it and the pounds have always come off. It is also plant based too and perfect for a quick throw in the blender breakfast.

“Also like many other people, I have never been a huge breakfast fan so it is perfect for when you don’t do breakfast but want something good to start the day.

Here is a link to my version of the green smoothie.”

“Any good weight loss smoothie should emphasize a few things:

“(1) lean protein, (2) healthy fats, and (3) high-fiber carbs. The protein helps maintain and build your lean muscle mass, so you can burn more calories as the day goes on. The healthy fats (monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats) give your body energy, help you absorb more vitamins, and improve the overall taste of the smoothie. And the high-fiber carbs help your digestive system run smoothly and support regularity in your routine.

“One of my all-time favorite weight loss recipes hits all these pointers and more! This healthy Tropical Sunrise smoothie offers a good mix of antioxidants, vitamins, protein, healthy fats, and fiber.

“Give it a try!

“Ingredients:

  • 1 banana
  • 1 1/2 cups orange juice
  • 1 carrot, peeled
  • 1 cup spinach
  • 1 tablespoon flax seeds
  • Handful of ice

“Blend until well mixed. Serve and enjoy!”

  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup spinach
  • 1/2 ripe avocado
  • 1 cup frozen pineapple
  • 2 tsp lemon juice
  • 1/4 tsp ground ginger

“I like this smoothie because it contains spinach, which allows me to get some leafy greens into my diet without even tasting them.

“The avocado adds some healthy fat which makes this smoothie very filling so I don’t feel tempted to eat more after drinking it. Every ingredient in this smoothie is whole-foods plant-based, with no unhealthy additives such as refined sugar, yet it still tastes delicious.”

“I love smoothies – it’s tough to pick just one favorite weight-loss recipe, but here it goes!

  • 1 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 cup of your favorite plant milk
  • 1/2 cup blueberries, 1/2 cup strawberries, 1/2 cup acai berries
  • 1 Tbsp chia seeds
  • 1 Tbsp date honey
  • 1/2 cup ice

“Blend all of the ingredients until smooth and serve with a straw! I love this recipe because you get the perfect blend of sweet and tart with the yogurt, berries and date honey! It’s also absolutely loaded with antioxidants and nutrients while at the same time giving you a ‘full’ feeling for hours – perfect for weight loss. Chia seeds contain omega-3 fatty acids that reduce stress hormones which can also help curb weight gain and unhealthy eating habits.”

“Ingredients you need:

  • 2 peeled oranges
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • ½ cup of almond milk
  • ½ cup of Greek yogurt

“My favorite weight loss protein smoothie recipe is below:

“This smoothie incorporates plant-based protein, fiber, and liquids, while hitting all the macros (healthy fats, protein, complex carbs) in a creamy blend, without any fast-burning sugars or processed fats, keeping you full for several hours while also being low in calorie. Plus, it’s vegan, dairy-free, and gluten-free, so suitable for a variety of diets.

“Blend together:

  • A big handful of spinach or collard greens (you won’t really be able to taste it! If greens aren’t your thing, you can swap out for berries)
  • A pack or scoop (25g) of EverLife vanilla plant protein (for complete organic protein and prebiotic fiber)

“My go-to smoothie for weight loss is banana chocolate protein.

“Contrary to what you may think, this smoothie is unlike the typical version. My version has just around 6 grams of net carbs and 25.5 grams of protein to keep me full all day and beat mid-morning cravings! (I take it for breakfast.) I use coconut milk, bitter cocoa, banana extract, avocado, and protein powder. Instead of white sugar, sweeten it with erythritol.”

Christine Kenney is a health coach with a Master in Social Work and helps busy women kick their sugar cravings and double their energy so they can confidently fit into their skinny jeans without starving themselves of the food they love.

“Do you find yourself still hungry two hours after you eat that smoothie? The key is to fill your smoothie with foods high in fiber, fat, and protein so you fully satisfy those hunger hormones. When you have these key ingredients into your smoothie you may discover that you are not starving two hours later, you won’t run to a high-carb lunch, and you won’t find yourself needing a sugary snacks to avoid a blood sugar crash. This will set you up to stop food cravings before they start and allow your body natural metabolism to go to work ( helping you burn fat and lose weight if that is your goal)!

“Chocolate Nut Cup

  • 1 serving chocolate protein powder
  • 2 Tbsp nut butter
  • 1-2 Tbsp flax seed
  • 6 ounces liquid, unsweetened almond milk, coconut milk
  • Hand full of greens (spinach, kale, mixed greens)
  • Cacao nibs for topping and a little add in
