  • Three handfuls of baby spinach
  • Two handfuls of frozen banana coins
  • Three dried pitless dates
  • Two tablespoons of hemp protein powder
  • Two tablespoons of your favorite nut butter

“Cover the cup’s contents with lukewarm water and allow the combination to sit for a few minutes so that the bananas defrost. Then blend and enjoy the deliciousness!”

My favorite smoothie consists of fresh mangos to promote digestion, fresh blueberries to get an antioxidant boost, and frozen banana for a delightful creamy consistency. The spinach and kale flavors are easily masked so that everyone can enjoy the taste while getting the amazing benefits of their vitamins and nutrients. Finally, the addition of chia seeds is an excellent source of fiber and is great for keeping you fuller for longer.

“Ingredients:

  • 1/3 cup of fresh mango (chopped)
  • 1/3 cup of fresh blueberries
  • Half of a frozen banana
  • 1 cup of spinach (loosely packed)
  • 1 cup of kale (loosely packed)
  • Almond milk or another liquid alternative (until desired consistency)
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds

“Directions: Add mangos, blueberries, banana, spinach, kale, and almond milk to the blender. Blend to desired consistency. Stir in chia seeds and enjoy!”

“My smoothie recipe usually makes enough for breakfast with a little left over for a mid-morning snack. I’ve been making this recipe with occasional variations for several years now. I like to use a high-speed blender to get a really smooth, creamy consistency.”

“My energy-boosting morning smoothie contains half an avocado, half a banana, half a cup of frozen berries like blueberry, some frozen vegetables like broccoli, a quarter cup of kefir, a pinch of Himalayan sea salt, and a small scoop of hemp seeds or chia seeds. I mix in a scoop of high quality pea protein powder, add water, and blend it all together in my Vitamix.

“This smoothie contains lots of healthy fats and protein from the avocado, kefir, and protein powder. This gives me sustained energy throughout the morning. It’s also rich in antioxidants and micronutrients, and contains a good dose of probiotic bacteria from the kefir. It gives me a solid nutritional foundation to start the day!”

“My favorite veggie smoothie is the Green Pina Colada Smoothie:

  • 1 1/2 cups dark leafy greens (spinach or kale)
  • 1/2 cup sliced cucumber
  • 1 medium frozen banana
  • 1 cup chopped frozen pineapples
  • 1/2 to 3/4 cup coconut milk

“Yields: 2 servings.

“All of the fruits and veggies in this smoothie are packed with vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and fiber. I like to use dark leafy greens because they are easy to blend and are associated with numerous benefits such as better blood, bone, heart, and eye health. A bit of cucumber will add a refreshing flavor and pineapples will add juicy tartness. Adding a banana adds natural sweetness and thickness to the smoothie while helping balance out the tartness/bitterness from the pineapples and greens. I like to use frozen fruit because they help create a desirable thick, icy texture without the need for ice cubes. Coconut milk (from a carton) helps ease blending while being rich in nutrients and flavor.”

“One of my favorite veggie smoothies is the Pear Pineapple Green Smoothie. It makes two servings.

“Ingredients:

  • 2.5 cups (or large handfuls) of fresh baby spinach (only 17 calories and loaded with vitamins, minerals and antioxidants!)
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen pineapple
  • 1 fresh medium pear, cored and seeded
  • 1 cup your choice yogurt (I used strawberry Kefir)
  • 1.5 scoop Growing Naturals vanilla rice protein
  • 1/2 cup OJ or pineapple juice
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 tbsp chia seeds
  • 5-10 ice cubes (depending on how thick you’d like the smoothie)

“Use dairy-free yogurt to make this recipe vegan.”

Alex MembrilloAlex Membrillo

@CardinalWS

Alex Membrillo is the CEO of Cardinal Digital Marketing.

“This smoothie helps me to naturally detox everyday. I love how with just one drink I’m able to get over 2 1/2 cups of greens, which is great for digestion. It’s also a great way to keep your skin glowing. My pro tip for blending greens is to blend them first, along with your pure coconut water, before adding your fruit and additional ingredients for blending.
This will help better blend your greens and make the fruit flavors pop.

“Leafy greens, especially spinach, contain more nutrients than practically any other vegetable. One cup of spinach is only about 41 calories and has high levels of vitamins K and A. It also contains high levels of Manganese, Folate, Magnesium, Iron, Copper, Vitamins B2, B6, and E, as well as Calcium, Potassium, and Vitamin C. Jump start your day with this healthy veggie in a smoothie.

“Morning Detox Green Smoothie:

  • 2 cups of spinach (don’t compress leaves when measuring)
  • 1/2 cup of kale (or substitute Romaine lettuce)
  • 1 celery stalk
  • 1 cup of pure coconut water

“Blend, then add:

  • 1/2 a banana
  • 1/2 an apple, chopped without core
  • 1/2 lime squeezed for the juice (remove seeds to avoid a bitter taste)
  • 1 slice of turmeric
  • 1 tablespoon of plain nonfat Greek yogurt
  • 3 ice cubes

“Blend, and enjoy.”

“My favorite veggie smoothie is what I like to call a Banana Caramel Smoothie. Made with a base of banana, yogurt, and dates, which give it that caramel smoothness!

“Ingredients:

  • 1 small banana
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup Greek yogurt
  • 2 teaspoons honey
  • 2 pitted, chopped dates
  • 4 ice cubes
  • Pinch of cinnamon

“Place all ingredients in a blender on maximum speed for 4 minutes (dates take a while to liquify!) – enjoy!”

Foodal’s Get Well Green Smoothie is a tasty option for those who are just getting used to the green smoothie life. It’s a tasty mix of leafy greens, flax or chia seeds, banana, apple, orange juice, and your choice of tropical fruit. The added boost of vitamin C is great for immune support!”

  • 1/2 cup berries, kiwi or mango—depending on your mood
  • 1-2 cups water
  • A splash of orange juice for some zing

“Blend well! A few years ago, I made a commitment to eat dark, leafy greens three times a day. A green smoothie gives my cells a vitamin and alkaline shower—plus, it’s a delicious and nutritious way to wake up!”

“To amp it up, I’ll throw in a scoop of vanilla protein powder and a scoop of a berry-flavored greens superfoods powder. This includes three additional servings of organic greens and extra superfoods. These smoothies are my favorite way to start the morning – they fuel up my energy for the day!”

“There are so many great ways to incorporate vegetables and infuse herbs into a healthy smoothie, but perhaps one of my favorite recipes includes fresh kale, nourishing nettle, and refreshing mint.

“Green Nettle Mint Smoothie ingredients:

  • 2 leaves fresh kale
  • 1 cup frozen mango
  • 3/4 cup nettle infusion (cold or room temperature)
  • 3/4 cup rice milk
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil
  • 5 mint leaves
  • 4 pitted dates

“Directions: First, make your nettle infusion. Infusions are made from 1 ounce of herb steeped in 1 quart boiling water for at least 4 hours, so can have a strong taste. Chill in the refrigerator. Blend all ingredients thoroughly in a blender until smooth. Garnish with a mint leaf. This recipe originally comes from the Herbal Academy blog.”

“Here is my simple, yet delicious favorite smoothie.

  • Pineapple orange juice
  • 5 peeled oranges
  • 1/2 cup of pineapple chunks
  • 1 cup of spinach (or kale)

“The spinach makes the smoothie a beautiful light green color and it sneaks in some healthy greens. I peel the oranges instead of juicing them to get the extra fiber.”

“My favorite green smoothie involves kale, spinach, and chard, because those are three greens that provide us with so many nutrients that we all need! However, that wouldn’t be the best tasting smoothie on its own. We also include a banana, some almond milk, a little bit of ground flax seeds and then for the really flavorful part, I love adding cocoa powder, some plant-based chocolate cocoa powder, a little bit of peanut butter, and even a little bit of coconut extract. The finished product tastes a little bit like a chocolate no-bake cookie and yet this smoothie is so healthy! We change up the flavors, sometimes adding vanilla, berries, and other nutritious and flavorful ingredients!”

Kylie GoldsteinKylie Goldstein

Kylie Goldstein, travel writer for Tourist Japan and passionate vegan, shares her favorite veggie smoothie that has a Japanese twist. Following a vegan diet means ensuring proper nutrient intake and paying attention to iron, B12, and omegas.

“My favorite veggie smoothie is the Matcha Mango Morning Smoothie. This green smoothie is a perfect way to kick start the morning and enjoy a powerful punch of produce for energy and focus. Matcha is known for its health benefits including antioxidants and it’s naturally detoxifying qualities. Classified as a superfood, matcha, made from green tea leaves is a part of most diets in Japan mostly consumed in tea, but also included in ice cream, desserts and of course, smoothies.

“Matcha also contains naturally occurring caffeine with l-theanine which can replace a morning coffee, giving a boost of energy that will last longer and does not have the same effects as coffee.

“Mixing matcha together with vegetables and fruit is one of the best ways to incorporate this powerful superfood and enhance its earthy flavor.

“Matcha Mango Morning Smoothie:

  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1/2 cup of mango (fresh or frozen)
  • Handful of spinach
  • A handful of kale (destemmed)
  • Cucumber
  • 2 tsp of matcha powder
  • 1 cup of non-dairy milk such as almond milk or coconut milk

“The combination of fruit and matcha is both flavorful, healthy and filling a perfect way to start a morning. By not adding any other protein to this shake (example: soy milk, spinach, or protein powder) it helps maintain the powerful properties of matcha. Mixing iron together with green tea actually reduces the EGCG (antioxidant) properties.”

“My favorite veggie smoothie recipe is delicious and super green!

“Ingredients:

  • 1/2 frozen banana
  • 1 kale leaf and stem (chopped)
  • 1 cup almond or coconut milk (water works too!)
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds
  • 1/2 cup ice
  • 1 handful of spinach
  • 1 tablespoon of peanut butter
  • Honey to sweeten (add to taste or leave it out!). I also sub with date syrup which has less sugar than honey and is vegan.

“Throw all the ingredients into a blender and set it on high until the smoothie is fully blended. Serve with a stainless steel or glass straw!”

“I drink a smoothie every day to help lose weight and stay healthy. I have a dump it recipe that I separate into Ziploc bags that I freeze and dump into the blender each morning before I head into work.

“Here’s what goes into my dump it smoothie bags:

  • 1 cup of chopped kale leaves (leave out stems)
  • 1/2 banana
  • 1/3 cup of frozen or fresh cut pineapple (you can also sub for other fruits such as apples, pears, oranges, berries, etc.)
  • 1/2 cup of spinach

“Does not have to be in frozen dump it bag:

  • 1 cup of almond milk
  • 1 tablespoon of peanut butter
  • 1 tablespoon protein (optional)
  • 1/2 cup ice

“Blend it all until smooth. I use a Bullet blender.”
