Blend for 20 seconds:

  • A handful of your favorite berries
  • Two peeled ripe (soft) bananas, cut into several pieces
  • Around 20 almonds
  • One cup of water

  • Around 30 sunflower seeds

“I share this berry smoothie recipe with as many friends and family as will listen. What’s in it?

  • 5 oz of baby spinach
  • 7.5 oz of 0% Fage Greek Yogurt (approximately 1.5 personal sized cups)
  • 3 hearty squirts of lemon juice (to taste – not everyone likes their smoothies sour)
  • 10-16 oz of cold water
  • 2 cups of frozen strawberries (Fun tip? fruits becoming overly ripe in the fridge or on the counter can be rinsed, put into a ziplock bag, and tossed in the freezer for use as smoothies in the future!)
  • 1 cup of frozen mango (or blueberries or raspberries – depending on your preference)

How do you make it?

Spinach can be hard to adjust to eating for people getting used to it. Blending it first at a high speed with water and lemon juice will let you see that it’s pureed down finely and without extra leaves and stems floating around. Next, add the Greek yogurt and watch your smoothie turn a creamy bright green color. Finally, toss in the frozen fruits to make the smoothie cold and creamy without being icy and watered down. This recipe makes one 50oz shaker bottle that you can carry with you throughout the morning to curb cravings. The berries keep your cholesterol down, is generally diabetes friendly, and the yogurt and spinach will help keep you full without being carb-heavy and bloat-inducing!”
