Favorite Berry Smoothie Recipe

Berry smoothies are an excellent way to curb a craving for sweets, thanks to the natural sweetness and rich flavors of berries like strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and acai berries. Berries are loaded with antioxidants, rich in fiber, and packed with vitamins like vitamin C and vitamin K and other essential nutrients like folate and manganese.

Berries are excellent smoothie ingredients paired with bananas, pineapples, coconut, and so much more. Berries mixed with kale and other greens like spinach make excellent green smoothies, too. Berry smoothies are an excellent meal replacement option, thanks to their high fiber content, and many berry smoothies are great for weight loss, too. Add some Greek yogurt or a scoop of protein powder to any berry smoothie for an added boost of protein.

  • A handful of your favorite berries
  • Two peeled ripe (soft) bananas, cut into several pieces

  • Around 30 sunflower seeds
  • A tablespoon of ground flax seeds
  • A squeeze from a slice of lemon

“I share this berry smoothie recipe with as many friends and family as will listen. What’s in it?

  • 5 oz of baby spinach
  • 7.5 oz of 0% Fage Greek Yogurt (approximately 1.5 personal sized cups)
  • 3 hearty squirts of lemon juice (to taste – not everyone likes their smoothies sour)
  • 10-16 oz of cold water
  • 2 cups of frozen strawberries (Fun tip? fruits becoming overly ripe in the fridge or on the counter can be rinsed, put into a ziplock bag, and tossed in the freezer for use as smoothies in the future!)
  • 1 cup of frozen mango (or blueberries or raspberries – depending on your preference)

How do you make it?

Spinach can be hard to adjust to eating for people getting used to it. Blending it first at a high speed with water and lemon juice will let you see that it’s pureed down finely and without extra leaves and stems floating around. Next, add the Greek yogurt and watch your smoothie turn a creamy bright green color. Finally, toss in the frozen fruits to make the smoothie cold and creamy without being icy and watered down. This recipe makes one 50oz shaker bottle that you can carry with you throughout the morning to curb cravings. The berries keep your cholesterol down, is generally diabetes friendly, and the yogurt and spinach will help keep you full without being carb-heavy and bloat-inducing!”

“I love vibrant and colorful smoothies with mixed berries. I usually add a handful of fresh or frozen strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries. Blend it along with yogurt, almond butter, and 2 tsp of psyllium husk for additional fiber. When adding psyllium husk, you need to drink it right away as it thickens fast. You can thin it down by adding water anytime. If the berries are slightly sour, I add honey or raw sugar. Also, you can skip the psyllium husk and add a tsp of chia seeds. This is my favorite smoothie recipe, and it is quite filling too.

Recipe:

  • 2 cups mixed berries
  • 1 cup low-fat Greek yogurt
  • 2 tsp psyllium husk, optional
  • 1 Tbsp almond butter
  • 1/2 cup water

Blend everything and enjoy it! If the berries are sour, add some sugar or honey.”

“Berries are a nutritional powerhouse and make a delicious smoothie. They are also rich in dietary fiber, a nutrient many of us fall short in! My favorite recipe is the Black and Blue Smoothie.

Ingredients for one serving:

  • 3/4 cup frozen blackberries
  • 3/4 cup frozen blueberries
  • 1 ripe banana
  • 1/2 cup coconut milk, or other milk of choice; more as needed to achieve desired consistency
  • 1 Tbsp whipping cream; optional, for creamier smoothie

Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. For an attractive, colorful garnish, add a wedge of pineapple to the edge of the glass to serve.”

“My favorite berry smoothie recipe is the Berry Blast Smoothie:

  • 1 cup frozen strawberries
  • 1 cup frozen blueberries
  • 1 cup frozen raspberries
  • 1 banana
  • 1 Tbsp chia seeds
  • 2 cups almond milk

The beauty of a berry smoothie is in its versatility and possibilities. With so many different seasonal berries to choose from, you’re bound to find the right berry to suit your taste. However, you could also opt for a frozen berry mix, which not only adds convenience but gives you a delicious frozen smoothie without having to dilute your recipe with ice or too much milk. Always serve cold!”

“Here is my favorite berry smoothie recipe. This smoothie is inspired by the classic peanut butter and jelly sandwich, but much healthier! Add more liquid if it’s too thick for your liking. The recipe makes a 16 oz. smoothie.

  • 1/2 c frozen raspberries and strawberries
  • 1/2 frozen banana
  • 1/2 c frozen spinach
  • 1 Tbsp peanut butter or almond butter
  • 1 tsp maple syrup or honey
  • 1/2 c water + 1/2 c milk
  • 3 ice cubes”

“I drink the same berry smoothie everyday. Not only is it delicious, but it’s also highly nutritious. Here the simple and healthy ingredients I include in the smoothie:

  • 2 cups of frozen berries
  • 1/2 cup of sliced almonds
  • 1/2 cup of raw oats
  • 1 Tbsp of chia seeds
  • 1 cup of spinach
  • 1 Tbsp of peanut butter
  • 1/2 scoop of whey isolate protein (preferably vanilla flavored)
  • Splash of agave nectar
  • 100% pure coconut water

Now, I know this ingredient list may not sound appetizing, but it actually tastes delicious. Plus, the different ingredients all add something special to the table in terms of nutritional value. For example, the berries are loaded with antioxidants, the almonds add healthy fats, the oats are high in fiber and protein, the spinach is packed with a variety of different
nutrients and vitamins, and the peanut butter is an excellent source of plant-based protein. Lastly, the coconut water is rich with natural electrolytes for hydration purposes.”

“As a mother of multiple children, their health is of the utmost importance to me. It is what drives me to pick the best fuel for their bodies. Unfortunately, sometimes they don’t agree. I had a couple of picky eaters, especially when they were younger. So, I started making smoothies to get their daily fruits and vegetables in. What started as a fun way to get them to be healthy turned into the past eight years of them loving their morning smoothies.

This is our favorite berry smoothie recipe:

  • 3 oz of unpasteurized organic apple juice
  • 3 oz of organic orange juice
  • 1 handful of frozen cantaloupe (est. 4 cut up pieces) from our garden (optional but great nutrients)
  • 1/2 cup of a frozen organic berry blend consisting of blackberries, raspberries, cherries
  • 1/2 cup of frozen organic mangoes
  • 1 pinch of organic spinach (about 1/8 cup)
  • 1.5 tsp of cholera/spirulina (they’re both an amazing super food, that has an abundance of vitamins, minerals & proteins)

Directions: Blend until smooth. If it looks to be too clumpy, I’ll add a bit of purified water. I tend to stay away from adding any yogurts, as dairy and fruit shouldn’t be mixed; it could cause fermentation in the gut.”

  • 1 serving your fave vanilla protein powder
  • 1 Tbsp coconut oil
  • 1-2 cups water or milk of choice (e.g., almond milk, coconut milk etc.)
  • 1 cup ice

“Triple Berry Blend is one of my favorite berry smoothie recipes. The triple berries blend is a smoothie made with three different berries. This smoothie is the perfect energy drink, which you can take whenever you want. The strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries used in this recipe can complement each other and enhance the overall taste of this smoothie.

“You don’t need to add sugar. The sweetness of the berries is enough to make it sweet. To add protein, you can use peanut butter or almond butter.

“The ingredients you need:

  • 1 cup of frozen strawberries
  • 1 cup of frozen raspberries
  • 1 cup of frozen blueberries
  • 2 tablespoons peanut or almond butter
  • ½ cup of low-fat milk
  • 1 cup of Greek yogurt

The process you need to follow: Put berries in the blender and blend them together. Add milk, yogurt, and butter. Blend it until it becomes smooth. Triple berries blend is ready to serve.

The Mango Blueberry Smoothie is another delicious berry smoothie recipe you should try. It’s a nutty and sweet smoothie with some tangy twist. Mango and blueberry go well together and enhance the taste of the smoothie.

We use almond butter in it, which can add a nutty taste and make it thicker. You can also add whole grain oats to make it more healthy.

The ingredients you need:

  • 1 cup frozen mangoes
  • 1 ½ cup of frozen blueberries
  • 1 cup of Greek yogurt
  • ½ cup of almond milk
  • 2 tablespoons of almond milk
  • 1 teaspoon of honey
  • ½ cup of crushed ice

The process you need to follow: Put mangoes, blueberries, and crushed ice into the blender and blend them. Add yogurt, milk, butter, and honey. Blend it until it becomes super smooth. Serve it chilled.”

How To Get Your Berry Smoothie On:

I sneak in spinach, but you (KIDLETS!) can’t tell it’s in there; if I could tell, I’d never drink it! The best part about this smoothie is it packed with 7 out of the daily 9 fruits and veggie servings for the day!

“Here is my favorite berry smoothie recipe and the benefits of each ingredient:

  • Strawberries – A good mix of sweet and tart, plus a nice red color – provides vitamin C and antioxidants.
  • Blueberries – Adds a bit of tart and a nice blue color that mixes well with the red from the strawberries and grapes – fiber, potassium, folate, vitamin C, vitamin B6 promote good heart health.
  • Red grapes – Adds sweetness that pairs perfectly with the tart of the blueberries and strawberries – provides vitamins K and C.
  • Broccoli slaw and spinach – Provides all of the vitamins and benefits of veggies, without disrupting the flavor or texture.
  • Avacado – Good source of protein and no distracting flavors, but most importantly, it thickens up the smoothie and creates a milkshake consistency.
  • Vanilla coconut milk – Consistent source of good fats. It also provides extra liquid that is essential for a good blend. A touch of vanilla sets off the fruit flavors.
  • Honey – Healthy and it adds another flavor dimension.
  • Beet root powder – It contains dietary fiber, calcium, iron, potassium, folate and manganese, plus it has a mild flavor that doesn’t upset the balance of the smoothie and helps to give it a nice red color.

Mix them all in a blender and refrigerate for the perfect milkshake consistency.”

“This Berry Vanilla Smoothie is one of my all-time favorite recipes and on constant repeat in my life. It includes the Fab 4 (Protein, Fat, Fiber and Greens), so it also fills me up!This recipe serves one:

  • 1 serving vanilla protein powder (whey, hemp or pea)
  • 8 oz unsweetened nut milk
  • 1/4 cup frozen spinach
  • 1/2 cup frozen cauliflower
  • 1/2 avocado (frozen or fresh)
  • 1/2 cup frozen berries (any variety will do)

Add nut milk and protein powder to the blender first and give it a whirl. Then toss in the frozen goods. If you need more liquid, add more nut milk or water in tablespoon increments. If you have an extra strong blender like a Vitamix, you can keep blending without any added liquid, and the result is a smoothie thicker than a milkshake.

Optional: top your smoothie with more fresh berries and something crunchy – it helps kickstart your digestion!”

“One of my favorite berry smoothie recipes has to be my Green Berry Smoothie. It’s a healthy smoothie that has that sweet taste that makes you forget that this drink has a bunch of spinach. This smoothie is made of whole ingredients and no added sugar. You can add honey, but I don’t think you need to because the banana and berries are plenty sweet.”

“This is by far the most refreshing berry smoothie recipe I have ever tasted.

Recipe:

  • Banana
  • Strawberries
  • Blueberries
  • Raspberries
  • Almond milk
  • Peanut butter

The classic banana and strawberry flavor but with the refreshing taste of blueberry and
raspberry makes that classic taste even better. I use peanut butter to really thicken the smoothie; nobody likes a watery smoothie. Almond milk is a healthy alternative that I prefer the taste of over coconut or goat milk, but any kind of milk will work. Enjoy!”

“My favorite berry smoothie is blackberry lemon ginger! The coconut has healthy fats to keep me fueled, the blackberries give a gorgeous color and dash of antioxidants, and the lemon is bright and cheery first thing in the morning.

Here’s the recipe I use:

  • 3/4 cup frozen blackberries (if not using frozen add 1/3 cup ice)
  • 1/4 cup frozen strawberries
  • 1 whole lemon, peeled using a knife
  • 1 cup of coconut milk (sub any milk you have!)
  • 1 nub of peeled ginger

On occasion, I also add in a handful of spinach (which darkens the color) or 1/2 cup yogurt for probiotics. A scoop of protein powder fits in well also! This is really a great morning smoothie that works year-round. Sometimes in the winter months, drinking smoothies isn’t as enticing compared to warm-weather months, but the lemon and ginger really
add a warming, snappy, pick me up that I enjoy year-round!”
