What is your favorite detox smoothie recipe

Detox smoothies are refreshing treats that are packed with nutrient-rich fruits, veggies, and other healthy ingredients to give your body a boost of essential vitamins and minerals. While your body is built to do the detoxing for you through your liver, kidneys, and gut, detox smoothies are excellent for giving your body a nice reset after a few days of indulging in some not-so-healthy foods. Fortunately, there are many delicious detox smoothie recipes that are both wholesome and delicious.

You can use detox smoothies as a meal replacement for breakfast or lunch to help you get back to your goal weight after you’ve been neglecting your diet. The healthiest smoothies for detoxing contain fresh, antioxidant-rich fruits and vegetables, a protein source such as Greek yogurt, and healthy fats like nut butters or coconut milk. Leafy greens like spinach and kale are excellent choices for detox smoothies, as they’re packed with vitamins and antioxidants. And, when mixed with a delicious combination of fruits and other ingredients like Greek yogurt, you’ll get a smoothie so delicious that you’d never even know the greens are in it!

When you don’t have time to shop for ingredients and prep your own detox smoothies at home, stop by your local Edible Arrangements® store for a delicious, done-for-you fruit smoothie on your way to work, on your evening commute, or anytime you’re looking for a pick-me-up to get you through the day. Our Edible® Treats menu includes amazingly refreshing smoothies made of fresh, never-frozen ingredients in incredible fruit flavor combinations you’re sure to love, like Pineapple, Honeydew & Kale, Pineapple & Orange, and more.

“Unlike conventional juice, my juice is made with whole fruits and vegetables, so you still get all of the fiber found in the whole food. This recipe does call for removing the fiber-rich skins from the apples and cucumbers, though, just because it makes for a smoother juice. But even without the skins, you are still getting fiber from the pulps of the cucumber and apple.

Recipe:

  • 1 cup cold water
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 1 cup frozen pineapple chunks
  • 1 (½-inch) piece fresh ginger, peeled and coarsely chopped
  • 1 cucumber, peeled and seeded
  • Pinch of Himalayan pink salt
  • 1 cup watercress
  • 1 crisp apple, peeled and cored
  • 1 cup ice cubes
  • 1 Tbsp manuka honey or other raw honey (optional)

Put all of the ingredients in a blender in the order given in the ingredients list. Process on high speed until the ingredients are well blended and the mixture is smooth. Divide between two 12-ounce glasses and serve at once.”

  • Juice of ½ lemon
  • ¼ avocado or 1/3 cup canned full-fat coconut milk
  • 1 scoop Dr. Kellyann’s Flavorless Collagen Protein

Dive into the detoxing abilities of the ingredients in the smoothie:

Ginger: Ginger has anti-inflammatory properties, and it’s a great gut soother. It also has thermogenic properties that help boost your metabolism.

Lemon: Citrus fruits contain a phytochemical call hesperidin, which helps your blood vessels stay healthy and aids in preventing varicose veins.

Pineapple: Pineapple feeds your body bromelain, which helps to lower inflammation, protect against blood clots, and fights cancer.”

“I really like avocados since you can use them in a lot of recipes. It’s a given that they’ll be used for smoothies, as well. One of my favorite smoothies of all time is the avocado detox smoothie. I like it because it’s simple and it doesn’t need a lot of ingredients.

Ingredients:

  • 1 whole avocado, chopped into pieces
  • ½ chopped apple
  • 1 ½ cups green veggies like kale or spinach
  • 2 cups water

You put these ingredients in a blender, and voila! You have a delicious avocado detox smoothie. Avocados contain tons of vitamins and minerals, and the natural sweetness of the apple will help bring out the flavor in the smoothie. The green veggies also provide nutrients that will substitute for a meal. Sometimes I drink this smoothie for breakfast since it only takes me 5 minutes to make it, and it’s way more nutritious than instant oats and cereals.”

“In today’s world, we are bombarded by toxins on a daily basis, from the air we breathe to the pesticides sprayed on our food, and the chemicals in our cleaning and personal care products. It’s true that our bodies are made to detoxify themselves, but they get overwhelmed and need extra support. Adding a green smoothie to your daily routine is a great place to start. Ingredients like greens, lemon, and ginger are going to help reduce inflammation, boost immunity, improve digestion and detoxification.

Enjoy!

Green Detox Smoothie:

  • 1 cup unsweetened almond or coconut milk
  • 2 cups organic baby spinach
  • 1 small organic apple, chopped
  • half of a banana
  • 2 tsp grated ginger root
  • 1 Tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1 Tbsp chia seeds
  • 2 tsp Manuka honey

Add all ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth!”

“My favorite detox smoothie recipe, which I recommend to my patients to start their day with a power punch of nutrition, is:

  • A small handful of leafy greens, thoroughly washed (for example, 3 spinach leaves)
  • A small piece of a water-rich vegetable like cucumber or tomato
  • A scoop of protein powder (if applicable – most of my patients are highly deficient in protein)
  • Coconut: oil – 1 tbsp / milk – 1/4 cup / fresh – 1 Tbsp / desiccated – 2 tsp
  • Spirulina or piece of avocado, as desired
  • Seasonings and spices as preferred to make it truly flavorful

Blend and enjoy!

This provides antioxidants, fiber, protein, and good fats – a great way to start the day! And often no other breakfast is required. It can be carried to work in a small flask for the late afternoon munchies, and enjoyed as a wholesome snack. Even kids love it with the right seasonings. No sugar or fruits, of course!”

“My favorite detox smoothie recipe takes about 5 minutes to prepare and only 2 minutes to make. When headed to my local grocer, I buy all of the following ingredients:

  • 1 squeezed lemon
  • 3-4 inches sliced cucumber
  • ½ cup Italian flat-leaf parsley
  • 1 cup baby spinach or kale
  • 1 Tbsp chia seeds
  • 1 cup unsweetened coconut milk
  • 2 cups mixed berries
  • 1 banana
  • 1 cup water, with more if required

Instructions:

Place all the items in a blender. Blend on high for 1 to 2 minutes until you get the consistency you desire. If it’s still too thick, you can add water.

Notes:

I always try to buy organic ingredients when making these, and some of the items I keep in my freezer, such as the kale and berries. The chia seeds provide protein, fiber, and other antioxidants, while the coconut milk adds a creamy smoothness. You can make this smoothie 2 days ahead of time if you know you’re going to need it, store it your fridge, or even freeze it for 3 months. You’ll be surprised how tasty this one is!

It comes out to a serving size of 3 cups, with 223 calories, 5 fiber, 3 carbohydrates.”

“My favorite smoothie detox smoothie is the Pineapple, Avocado & Kale Smoothie:

  • 2 cups frozen pineapple chunks
  • 1/2 ripe avocado, peeled and pitted
  • 1/2 banana, peeled and frozen
  • 1/2 – 1 cup oat milk (or similar)
  • 1 – 2 handfuls chopped kale (or more if your tastebuds can handle), stems removed
  • Sweetener to taste (such as maple syrup or agave)

Avocado and kale are great sources of glutathione – an antioxidant that plays a critical role in liver detoxification. Vitamin C, which is found in high doses in pineapple, has been shown to increase the naturally occurring glutathione levels in white blood cells. Combine these ingredients, and you’ve got a detox one-two punch.”

“Detox drinks and smoothies are almost in all my diet plans. They are delicious, healthy, and keep me full for a proper amount of time. This one is among my favorites. It consists of:

  • Banana (rich in potassium)
  • Pineapple (great antioxidant and helps in protein digestion)
  • Green apple (has prebiotics that helps in digestion)
  • Ginger (speeds up digestion & anti-inflammatory)
  • Lemon (rich in vitamin C & antioxidant)
  • Cilantro (fights heavy metal toxicity & antibacterial)
  • Spinach (prevents oxidation damage)
  • Honey (boosts immunity, antibacterial, antioxidant)

It’s very nutritious, boosts my energy, and has a very rich taste.”

“My perfect detox smoothie includes an unexpected ingredient – jalapeno.

Here is the recipe:

  • 1 whole banana
  • 1 cup almond milk
  • 1 Tbsp peanut butter
  • 1 mandarin orange
  • 1/2 apple
  • 1 small slice of jalapeno pepper
  • 3/4 cup spinach
  • 3/4 cup kale
  • 1 cup frozen pineapple

It sounds crazy, but the jalapeno adds the perfect hint of spice to this drink. For me, this unexpected recipe sparked an interest in healthy smoothies, and I can honestly say it kickstarted a healthy lifestyle for me! Whenever my diet starts to slip, I come back to this detox smoothie. Before I know it, I’m craving healthy food again!”

“Here is a recipe I like to use because it doesn’t include the things that can really aggravate skin problems.

Green Detox Smoothie:

  • 1 green apple
  • 1 pear
  • 1 to 1 ½ cups fresh spinach (I like baby spinach)
  • ½ cucumber
  • 1 cup of ice
  • ½ cup of non-dairy milk ( I like nut milk or oat milk)
  • 1 to 2 Tbsp lemon juice (fresh or bottled)
  • 1 Tbsp chia seeds or flaxseed (optional)

Blend and enjoy a bright, clean meal or snack. I like having it in the morning because starting with something clean and healthy makes it harder for me to justify eating junk later in the day. And even if I do, at least I had something good for me.”

“Believe it or not, this smoothie contains bananas and coffee – both of which have beneficial effects.

When I’m detoxing, I’m limiting my food intake, as well as ensuring that whatever I put into my body has the maximum nutritional value.

Why bananas? Because they help promote healthy gut flora and contain plenty of fiber to aid in keeping the intestines clean.

And coffee? Coffee is my passion and my business. Many people don’t realize that coffee is probably one of the largest sources of antioxidants.

Here’s the recipe for the Coffee Banana Smoothie:

  • 1 cup chilled Seattle’s Best brewed coffee
  • 1 1/2 bananas, cut into chunks
  • 1 cup nonfat plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 Tbsp ground flax seed
  • 2 tsp honey or agave nectar
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp grated nutmeg
  • 6 ice cubes
  1. Place all of the ingredients in a heavy-duty blender (one that can crush ice).
  2. Blend until smooth.

“When it comes to detoxification, there are a few things to keep in mind. It’ll probably save you some money from opportunistic brands on Instagram who capitalize on the lack of education around detoxification. Detoxing is something our bodies naturally do, and the things we consume either aid in that process or severely slow it down.

Think of your body like your city’s sanitation department. When you eat stuff that takes a lot of time to digest, produces an acidic response, or causes a build-up of mucoid plaque in the gastrointestinal system, that’s like throwing your garbage all out in the street without properly packaging it. You’re essentially making the job harder for the sanitation workers. It’s going to take them more time, and more than likely, they’ll opt for completely skipping your house.

Your body works the exact same way. You wouldn’t throw your trash away all over the driveway and sidewalk, so why make it harder for your body to eliminate waste in the same manner?

There are a few different forms of detoxification that your body does, mainly two forms. Your body is constantly detoxing heavy metals and mucoid plaque. Heavy metals build up in our bodies over time and after exposure to products like deodorant, aerosol sprays, aluminum foil, fish, and much more. Chronic exposure to heavy metals can cause fatigue, headaches, joint pain, and a few other symptoms. Mucoid plaque, on the other hand, is a build-up of undigested matter that combines with mucus and sticks to the large and small intestine. This makes it more difficult for us to optimally absorb the nutrients we eat.

I explain all of this because the following smoothie will aid your body in both the detoxification of mucoid plaque and heavy metals. The recipe goes as follows:

The Double Duty Detox:

  • 1 thumb of ginger
  • 1 bushel of cilantro
  • 1 bushel of parsley
  • ½ cucumber
  • 1 green apple
  • 2 squeezed lemons
  • 1 Tbsp cholera & spirulina
  • 1 Tbsp activated charcoal
  • 2 handfuls concord grapes

Drinking this juice gives your body a break from digestion as there is more surface area, so less work for the digestive system. On top of that, cilantro, parsley, cholera, and spirulina are amazing heavy metal detoxification agents. The grapes and lemon juice are extremely astringent, which means they help pull out any form of plaque build-up. These agents do a clean sweep, and the activated charcoal binds to the plaque making it easier to come out. The best time to drink it would be for breakfast.”

“My recipe for the ultimate detox smoothie is packed with leafy green veggies – unfortunately, sweet fruits need to take a backseat if your goal is to detoxify. I’ll switch up the ingredients every so often, like adding almond butter if I want more texture, but otherwise, my go-to ingredients are:

  • 1/2 cup coconut water (or almond milk, if you want a thicker consistency)
  • 2 cups green spinach
  • 1 cup kale
  • 1 cup chard
  • Bonus: the juice from one lime or lemon for a kick and an extra detox boost

Blend all together and enjoy! As I mentioned, you can add in a few spoonfuls of almond butter or your other favorite nut butter if you want it thicker.”

“My favorite detox smoothie is a simple one with spinach and berries as the core ingredients. Spinach has anti-inflammatory properties and is loaded with vitamins K and E, not to mention calcium and iron. As for the berries, I use blueberries and acai, which are packed full of vitamins A, C, E, and the entire B-complex.

The recipe is as follows:

  • 1 cup spinach
  • 3/4 cup berries
  • 1 cup coconut water
  • 2 Tbsp chia seeds
  • 1 Tbsp nut butter

Throw the ingredients in a blender for 30-seconds, and you have a toxin-ridding health tonic! Oh, and feel free to switch up the secondary ingredients. Sometimes, I may use flaxseeds in place of chia seeds or maple or birch-water in lieu of coconut water.”
